The Florida Commission on Offender Review, established in 1941, functions as a quasi-judicial body within Florida's criminal justice system. It is responsible for making post-release decisions affecting inmates and ex-offenders, including parole, conditional release, conditional medical release, and addiction recovery supervision. The Commission conducts approximately 36 public hearings annually across the state to ensure participation from victims, victims’ families, and inmates’ families. Additionally, it serves as the administrative arm of Executive Clemency, providing a means for convicted felons to seek relief from punishment and restoration of civil rights. The Commission's mission is to ensure public safety and provide victim assistance through the post-prison release process.
